Worship Overview

Within Kairos we look for inspiration in ancient practices, Christian tradition and modern creativity for our worship.   We emphasise particiupation and story-sharing in worship, and so you are less likely to find someone offering a sermon, but rather opening a conversation.   We love to evolve our worship collectively, and so we experiment regularly, and are just as likely to be worshipping outside, using natural materials, as inside using liturgy.  Our aim, however, remains the same as any gathering of worshipping people, to facilitate and encounter with God and with one another, at a deep and meaningful level, while still allowing for the playful.

Worshipping With Others

Divine Focus

Divine Focus is a gathering of photography enthusiast, who find photography a spiritual process, and a conversation with the divine.  We choose a theme each month, and share our photos, to help us tell our stories and reveal God’s word to us for that day.

FiveX5

A monthly story-telling gathering based on the popular Tenx9 event.  Five people, contribute five stories, each five minutes long drawing on the theme for the evening.  After listening to the contributions those gathered then discuss what we’ve heard, and share our own stories in response.  If appropriate, we may then respond with a short time of prayer.

SOUL SPACE

Soul Space was an early incarnation of FiveX5,  in that it shared the idea of worship being curated from individuals submissions of poems, readings, reflections, images and shared with those gathered, and recorded for later viewing.

Selby Street

Selby Street, one of Kairos’ partners hosts an act of worship each Friday.  This takes place in a very relaxed way, and is often punctuated by new arrivals, and steered by those participating, but is warm and spirit filled.

Sunday Bible Study

Meeting monthly, the Nomad Podcast chat group, decide in advance on an episode to listen to from Nomad’s back catalogue (prior to the meeting), and then meet for an hour to discuss our reactions and emerging thoughts.

Personal Devotions

For personal devotional activities or prayer and meditation based events, check out the following.

Prayer & Meditation

We encourage a personal rhythm of prayer, but also to gather in triplets, small groups or even in a large group to pray with others.  We offer zoom prayers each week that are open to everyone, morning and evening and space for meditation once a week.

Discussion Groups

We love the opportunity to share stories, and many of our activities contain the opportunity to both hear and share story.  We host several events monthly, that offer the opportunity for conversation, and story sharing.

Kairos Resources

Over our time as a movement, we’ve recorded, published and shared resources we’ve found personally helpful.  On our website, youtube channel and through our podcasts you will find recordings of our worship times, meditations, prayers and reflections to view.
